Let's Scrap Hexagons with Jackson Paper!

It is time to jump into the NEW Jackson paper from Close To My Heart! This is Layout #1! I could NOT wait to cut into this paper set. I took it with me to the big Boyne Scrapbooking retreat the first weekend of May. (My Mother's Day gift- an escape from day to day responsibilities, it was Oh so nice!)

I had the help of this beautiful sketch challenge from the Let's Scrap Sketches Blog! It "had me at Hexagons". The stamp set that goes with Jackson has hexagons in it, couldn't be a better pairing!

This is my interpretation of the hexagon cluster on the sketch template. I used a few word stamps to add subtitles here, as well as room to journal if needed. The diamond shapes were so quick and easy to add, self adhesive accents from the "Brave Enamel Shapes" (Z3073- $6.95).

This accent cluster is one stamped hexagon, one paper punched hexagon, and one enamel diamond.

I used paper scraps to create pennant shapes and layered an enaml shape and a stamped hexagon on top.

Hope you can join us for our Jackson Workshop on June 13th! Invite your friends. We will create the layout above as one of the 4 layouts we will make. You also could choose to create a set of 15 cards. More project photos will be posted soon!

Happy Crafting!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving 2011 is "in the books" now. I bet you took a few pictures and you are anxious to get your memories into YOUR books with a new Scrapbook page! I thought you might like to peek at a layout I created recently at my Dreamin' Workshop. If you would like to create it for yourself I have the recipe below.

My layout design is based on "Deck of Cards" (pg 30 of Magic Book). On the Left Hand page I cut the words from the zip strip to add to the scalloped edge of the featured photo. (The photo space is for a 5x7 vertical) I trimmed the words to fit inside the scalloped piece and cut a V in the ends. The word "Family" is from the stickease sticker set that coordinates. In the upper right hand area I added a quote from the stamp set "Treasure Life".

On the Right Hand page I created my title piece as a 3x12 so that the characters from the Thanksgiving set would have room to stand. The title piece has room for 4, 3x3 photos nested under it. The journaling detail is a large sticker from the stickease set.

1- Colonial White CS Base LH
1 - Goldrush Orange CS Base RH
LH Page: Goldrush 6x12, Brown Floral Paper 3 1/8x7 V and 2x7 for scallop, Geometric Pattern Paper 2x12 and 3 1/8x5
RH Page: 3x12 Colonial White CS, Geometric Pattern Paper 5x12

Tools: Scallop Punch for edge of feature photo accent and Sponge for color sponging the edge of the quote

Stamp Sets Used: C1426 Thanksgiving, D1306 Treasure Life
Ink: Goldrush, Chocolate

Recent Card Making Workshop!

Wanted to share a few pictures and highlights from my recent Card Making Workshop! We did a "card buffet". There were 6 designs and enough supplies for each attendee to create 2 in each design. Guests could choose how many cards they wanted to make. Each card was $1.50 based on cost of supplies only.

The designs shown for this class were all created by me. I photo copied each card and made a recipe sheet with measurements and important steps. Guests were very excited to take home the "How-to's"!

If this sounds exciting to you send me a message and I an add you to my list to be notified of future card and scrap-booking classes I plan to host!

Announcing my first CTMH Card Workshop!

-Do you need to stock up on handmade cards, and get them done now so they are ready for giving?
-Have you always wanted to MAKE cards but need to learn how?
-Are you an experienced paper-crafter who would like to try out some new techniques and new products?
-Do you deserve and need a Sunday afternoon of "ME" time?

If you answered "yes" to ANY of the items above I have the answer for you! :D

I will be hosting my first Close to my Heart CARD making workshop on Sunday June 26th 2011 from 1-4 pm. I will have materials and layout "recipes" ready for us to create 12 handmade cards. You will have access to my stamp supplies, tools, and ME so that I can answer any questions as we walk through how to make each card. The cost of the workshop is $18 which will cover the cost of materials. (That is $1.50 per card!- versus over $4.00 for a less interesting store-bought card!) Our goal will be to get through all 12 cards, but if we run out of time or you need to leave early, don't worry. You can take the little "kits" I am creating for each card with you! (we will have a break in the middle for a light snack).

I will host this workshop at my home. I have 8 spots at my dining room table. Please RSVP to me by the 20th so that I can prepare our kits. If we have more then 8 interested I can add other tables, or we can move our location down the road to a local school or government building. Feel free to invite your paper crafting friends to attend with you. The more the merrier, as long as I know by the 20th.

OUR PROJECTS for June 26th:
-Summer Birthday Cards
-Summer Wedding Cards
-Summer Thank You Cards

Please send me a message if you are interested and I will save your spot and keep you in the loop on location. Mark your Calendars and keep in mind that I will be hosting a similar SCRAPBOOK Workshop in July.
