Tuesday Trigger, Shimmer and Shine!

It's time to sparkle!

As a Close to My Heart Consultant I was able to preview the NEW "Whooo' Your Valentine" Kit early! When I first saw the Silver Glitter Paper (available in February 2012) it knocked my socks off! Love at first craft! It really does shimmer and shine! So when I saw this Tuesday Trigger from Moxie Fab World Blog- I had the perfect excuse to put it to use!

Silver and Gold and shiny fancy metallics! It's just one thing I love about the Christmas Season- a reason to celebrate and get glitzy! Here is the card I created while inspired by this photo (and also keeping my most bling loving friends in mind).

I used this sketch from Mojo Monday The Blog as my design. This one is Mojo207. The first week of the month at Mojo is contest week! Play along for your change at the winnings! :)

I used the sparkle paper with my scallop punch and I am happy to report that it impressed me! The glitter falloff on my workspace was minimal and the punch worked without any extra effort! I am impressed with this new Paper!

When I think metallic and shiny I reach for my embossing powders and heat gun right away! This time I COMBINED my silver and gold embossing powders as an experiment to just see what would happen. (Those who know me understand this is very out of my comfort zone- I am usually very diligent to return each respective powder to its own personal vile... I just had to make a new vile for this concoction!) I love how it turned out! It adds more dimension then the flat silver would have been alone. What do you think?

Happy Anniversary Card!

My anniversary is fast approaching! I used some of my free time, that was also hubby-free, to make a handmade surprise card for my Husband. I already knew what stamp set I wanted to use, "Card Chatter Love", from close to my heart. But I had to search around for some inspiration for color and design. I found this for inspiration from Moxie Fab World blog. It is a Tuesday Trigger called "Man-tastic".

I found a great card sketch to use on the Mojo Monday Card Sketch Challenge! This one is called Mojo 244!

So here is what I created combining all of the above criteria and inspiration! Tada!

I used alternating hearts along a stitch looking stamp to mimic the rain drops on the string in the "Man-tastic" inspiration photo. I used the colors from the photo as well: Cranberry Red, Teal, Indian Corn Blue, Grey Flannel, and Chocolate.

I used the new fork trick that I learned from Pinterest to tie this fancy bow out of color ready ribbon. Who knew I needed tools from the Kitchen in my craft area!?

I love the "Card Chatter Love" stamp set for anniversary cards, weddings, and Valentine's day. On this one I used the "You are my..." on the cover of the card and placed "Happily Ever After" on the inside.

Treasured Friend Card

I found this CUTE sketch on the "Get Creative" Challenge Blog based out of Greece! I just HAD to find an excuse to make something with it!

My color choices and technique were inspired by the Tuesday Trigger inspirational photo from Moxie Fab, titled "Watercolor Butterflies". (But I missed the date to enter my creation into the running for a prize!) :(

The technique I used was emboss resist. I stamped my stamp with clear embossing ink onto my white card. Then I dusted it with clear embossing powder and tapped off the extra. Then heated it with my head gun. It is a pretty cool looking embossed image at that point, but I wanted more contrast, so I continued on. I added gypsy (purple), smoothie (pink), and sunset (orange) with my sponge. I inked up my sponge and placed it against my embossed area then drug it off the card and let it fade as I went. I repeated this until I got the desired effect I was going for. I was careful to position my starting point with the sponge UNDER where the sentiment band would cover it up because this area was darker then I wanted for my finished look.

Home Sweet Home

The "Tuesday Trigger" from the Moxie Fab World blog was too cute to resist taking part in! Take a look at this inspiration photo!

I zeroed in on the woodgrain and the bird theme. This challenge was the perfect excuse to use my "Bless this Nest" stamp set from Close to my heart. I created the front of my card with the same proportions shown in the inspiration photo. Red at the top, then a green scallop accent, then a textured square.

Instead of a "window" I used this area for a sentiment. Instead of a woodgrain door I used a cute little wooden bird house. My favorite part is the pair of birds perched up high on the scallop ledge.

Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger: Fancy Schmancy

This week's Inspiration photo on the Moxie Fab World Blog- Tuesday Trigger was a lot of fun to work with!

 

I used it to create a card of encouragement to give to a family member who is going through cancer treatments. I used a square card to focus in on the cross section of the tiny cake like treat in the inspiration photo. I used a pattern stamp to create texture on the bottom layer of the cake. Pink ribbon from Stampin Up was the perfect item to act as the pink filling. Kraft paper made a great top layer. The lightest pearls from the Mocha set of opaques from Close to my Heart topped it off. I put them in a scattered pattern just like they are in the inspiration photo.

First 7 Days Layout

I created these scrap book pages to feature the details from my Son's first week in the world.

I took notes about his first bath, his hospital visitors, when we went home, the price of gas, the weather, etc. I am going to write the information in by hand so that it is in my hand writing. Each spot that is indicated by "3x3" is where I will put a photo for each day.

Tuesday Trigger Card

I have created this card to add to a pack of cards a customer of mine ordered as a Christmas gift for her friend. I was inspired for this project by the "Tuesday Trigger" Challenge on the Moxie Fab World blog. Below is a picture of the inspiration photo.

A partridge in a pear tree was the theme. I focused on the "pear". I used the color pallet of soft grey, blue, white, and ivory. I used tiny crystals to mimic the look of the beading on the pillow. I used emboss resist technique to mimic the embroidered branch from the inspiration item.

Combined Challenge and Inspiration

I am on a bit of a challenge kick lately! I am just so excited by the inspiration the challenges bring to me! In this card I combined both a card sketch challenge AND an Inspiration trigger. The sketch layout challenge is from this week's Heart to Heart challenge blog. I paired this layout with the inspiration I found in the "Tuesday Trigger" from the Moxie Fab World Blog. So these are the two pictures I starred at while coming up with my plan for my card...

I came up with an Apple themed "with Gratitude" Card. It is perfect for giving with a gift for the Teacher you appreciate. I used the yellow patterened paper (CTMH Mayberry B&T Duo Papers) to create the "layered" look from the inspiration dessert. The Apple (CTMH Stamp Set from the Mayberry Kit) is a focused accent on the top layer, just like the inspiration desert.

I hope you like my creation and I can't wait to see what other ladies came up with based on the same challenges! I will be keeping an eye on it!
